Selling High End Art and Other Amazing Things 3D Renderings Can Help With During COVID (and Into the Future!)

It has been said that necessity is the mother of invention. Nothing could be more true when it comes to some of the innovative ways that people have found to pivot their lives and businesses in one of the most uncertain and challenging times in recent history.

What do you do if you’re quarantined at a hotel for two weeks after returning from a foreign country with coronavirus cases, stuck at home because you’re not able to go to work, or unable to open your business in the conventional way because of the need for social distancing?

Well, you could get very bored and spend your time binge watching netflix, but the productive (and sometimes necessary) response for many people has been to turn to innovation.

We have found that many, many people in the home improvement, real estate and development spaces, and even people who would not historically have had a use for 3D renderings are turning to us for help. Over the last few months we’ve created countless architectural visualizations, lots of virtual reality tours, and animated property videos as people plan for the future and work to keep their businesses afloat.

Here are just a few of the things people are doing to keep themselves busy, keep their businesses running and to look to the brighter future which hopefully awaits once the COVID-19 pandemic is under control and life goes back to normal.

1. The high end art gallery that has pivoted to selling their artworks online through a virtual reality walk through gallery

Possibly one of the most interesting building rendering projects we’ve done recently is this virtual reality rendering for the DAG Gallery.

Because galleries have had to close, the DAG Gallery wanted a solution to still be able to showcase their exhibitions, and to sell their clients’ artwork, even if people could not come and appreciate them physically.

In this instance, something like 3d floorplans or aerial rendering wouldn’t have worked too well. However, something like an architectural animation service or VR tour (which is what they ended up going with) would be perfect.

This is an application virtual reality tours are perfectly suited to! Below you can see the virtual tour, where you can navigate around different areas of the gallery using the black dots on the floor. See anything you like?

2. Give people A feeling of freedom until they can experience it again FOR themselves

One of the most challenging things about having to stay in one place for an extended period of time is that everything has kind of become the same. You see the same people, eat the same food, get the same impressions.

So when the team behind the South Beach Condos at Long Branch in New Jersey approached us to make an animated video of their new development we jumped at the chance! By using a select few pieces of stock footage related to the local area and the feeling of luxury, combined with photorealistic animations of the South Beach Condos themselves, we aimed to create a video presentation that would help people feel what it would be like to live at the South Beach Condos, without even having to leave their houses. In this way animated architectural visualizations can be a great solution to residential properties during COVID, and into the future, even when people can’t visit in person.

3. People planning house new houses and renovations

With most people having to stay home, many home owners, builders and renovators are taking the time to plan new builds or the renovations they’ve been dreaming about for ages. It’s a good way to take a break from all the painting everyone has been doing!

Below you can see just a handful of the renderings we’ve done this past month for people trying to visualize their renovations, new homes, and country escapes.

4. Real estate agents and developers selling property off the plan

One of the biggest areas we’ve seen growing since the coronavirus pandemic started is virtual reality tours. For some time we’ve been predicting that the future of real estate sales and rental would be virtual. And just like COVID has pushed the idea of remote working ahead by leaps and bounds, it has also accelerated the adoption of virtual reality to sell and rent real estate.

What’s the next best thing to in person inspections? Virtual reality tours that can let people “walk” through a property, inspecting it at their leisure, even if they’re in lockdown (or on the other side of the world for that matter).

Here are a couple of virtual tours we've done in the last few weeks.

You can see more VR tours for the range of developments these properties come from here and here.

If you have a project that’s been in the works for some time but you’ve never quite got around to moving it forwards, now might be the perfect time to get started. You’ll be surprised how quickly and affordably we can produce amazing quality renderings for you.

But even if you don’t have anything for now, hopefully this post has given you some inspiration and ideas for ways you could use architectural renderings and virtual reality in your projects into the future, as we think many of the changes COVID has brought are here to stay.
