This article was written by Elaine Pofeldt, Senior Contributor at Forbes, and the author of two books about successful micro business:

  • The Million-Dollar, One Person Business

  • Tiny Business, Big Money

Elaine specializes in understanding successful “nonemployer” one-person businesses, who have no official employees beyond the company owners. These companies often have teams of contractors who assist them in their day-to-day business operations, a route that Jason has found very effective in building his two, fully-remote, businesses.

Elaine and Jason have had a long-standing relationship ever since Jason reached out to Elaine after reading her first book The Million-Dollar, One Person Business. Elaine recently conducted a virtual forum on remote business with Jason as one of the panel members, and also recently wrote about him in her newest book Tiny Business, Big Money.

Elaine has written about Jason, his companies, and the freedom his entrepreneurial skills allow him (for instance the ability to travel to over 60 countries since starting his businesses) on Forbes a number of times.

This latest article examines the emerging phenomena of one-person businesses, and the rise of digital nomads, explaining that both are trends to watch into the future. In it, Jason shares some information about what it’s like to run his business, and the freedoms that a successful business can afford the owner if it is set up correctly.
