22 ArchViz Rendering Firm Reviews & Comparisons

There are a lot of options out there when it comes to hiring an architectural visualization company for your next 3D rendering project.

There are firms that specialize purely in architectural visualization and others that are more generalist, offering architectural renderings alongside other services like product renderings for instance. Then there are companies who offer real estate services more broadly, where architectural renderings are just a part of what they do. Some companies even niche down to specific areas, such as floorplans.

Some companies focus on creating still images as their main offerings. Others also provide architectural animations, and some will create virtual reality tours, which are a newer service available to real estate professionals.

Many companies who are marketing more actively are based in North America, but others are based overseas, for example in Europe or South East Asia. Some teams are based locally (which will often equate to higher prices), and some, like us here at Render3DQuick have headquarters and customer service in North America, but a distributed team. We choose to run our company in this fashion because it allows us to attract the best global talent while keeping costs lower and producing work more quickly as we have rendering professionals working in multiple time zones.

So with all these options, how do you choose who to work with on your next 3D rendering project?

To save you some hassle when looking for a service provider we put together a comparison table of 3D rendering competitors we see frequently in our marketing analysis. Some people may think it’s strange that we would promote our competitors in this way, but we are confident that if you compare our prices and services, check out our 400+ reviews and get in touch, there is a very high likelihood that if your project is a good fit you will want to work with us.

In the table below you will find the results of some market research that compares us to competing brands in terms of their area of specialty, reviews, turnaround times and estimated project costs, where their head office is located and some of the services they provide. The project quotes are for a fairly standard North American family home.

As you’ll see by looking at the comparison table, as of the time of checking on the 17th of April 2022, we have approximately 300 more reviews than our nearest competitor. We also have very fast turnaround times on quotations and project delivery and very competitive prices. Why not try us out for your next project? You can get a quote here.

How to Choose a 3D Rendering Company

There are a number of useful questions to ask yourself when considering who to hire for your next project including:

  • Do I care what experience other people have had with the company, or do I want to trust my gut?
One of the best ways to determine whether a company will be good to work with is to read the experiences other people have had with them. We have hundreds more reviews than our competitors and a very high star rating given the number of reviews we have. So you can trust that working with us will be a great experience. You can read our 400+ reviews / testimonials here.

  • Do I want / need to hire someone local?
Some people may prefer the comfort of working with a local company due to proximity or familiarity with their area, way of working etc., however as you’ll see in the comparison table, if you are based in North America this can mean higher costs. In our age of global connection where working with a company interstate or overseas is as easy as working locally (as long as you find a company to work with where there’s no language / communication barrier) there’s no real need to work with a company right next door.

  • Would I rather work via email, or do I require phone or in-person meetings?
While some people like phone or in-person meetings, they’re actually a big waste of time, both for the client and the company working for them. We’ve streamlined our processes so we actively avoid meetings and rarely need to resort to phone calls.

  • How much am I willing to spend?
If you’re looking to go very cheap, look to South East Asia, or alternatively, expect lower quality, or consider looking for a freelancer who is just starting out on a freelancing platform. North American companies will often be more expensive, but may require less project management. The quality of output you need will also determine price. The more complex or highly rendered the image, the longer it takes to produce and the more expensive it’s likely to be. As you’ll see from our prices and portfolio however, we’ve managed to achieve a very high degree of precision in our renderings at a very competitive price.

  • What service / services do I need?
Some companies specialize in a particular type of rendering. Some firms offer some but not all rendering services, eg. they may not offer animations or virtual reality tours. We are the only company we’re aware of who also offer 3D printed architectural models for instance.

  • How many renderings do I want done and will the company I’m interested in have the capacity to handle my current and future workload?
Smaller rendering studios or individual CGI artists may only have the capacity to take on a handful of projects at one time. Teams with lots of CGI pros can spread the load. So the number of staff in a company can determine turnarounds times. If you need a large number of renderings now or into the future, consider working with a company with lots of team members. We have over 50 people on staff for example, so we can handle lots of projects at once.

  • How important is turnaround time for my project?
If turnaround time is important to you, make this clear up front when reviewing agencies. Also look at companies who quickly respond to your request for quote. At Render 3D Quick we pride ourselves on providing very fast quotes and turnaround times. In fact, if you work with us, sometimes we will have finished your project before our competitors even get back to you with a quote!

  • How detailed is my project brief and how many revisions might I require?
Sometimes revisions are included in the price quoted for the project, sometimes they cost extra. If your project brief is unclear, or you expect to need a lot of revisions, talk to your preferred company about how many revisions are usually required for projects and how much extra (if any) they will cost. With a good project brief, a pro team of CGI artists should only need to do one or two rounds of revisions at most to get a great final product.

  • Am I comfortable paying for my whole project upfront?
Many companies will require a down payment at the beginning of the project and the balance on completion. A 50/50 split is common in this regard. Some companies, however, will ask for full payment up front, especially for smaller projects. If you’ve never worked with them before you might need to consider whether this is a risk you’re willing to take or not. Reviews can help put your mind at ease in this regard.

What Information Will Be Needed to Start Your Project?

Typically to get started on a project your archviz firm will need:

  • Your property plans / blueprints / floorplans / drawings etc. If you already have CAD or DWG files this might lower your costs if the property does not have to be modeled from scratch.

  • Reference images or information (eg. colors, textures, materials etc.) that the property should be rendered in to help make the property look like it will in real life.

  • Information about what furniture or other elements should be added to the images

  • What position / view you want the renderings completed from

  • Any information about the surrounding landscape and environment, eg. Google maps views of other buildings, whether you want a day time, sunset, night time view etc.
